Trump said the new program would allow companies to hire and retain the brightest students from global universities.
Trump emphasized that many students from India, China and other nations graduate from top US institutions but struggle to stay in the country. He called this a “shame” and said the Gold Card would finally end years of uncertainty.
How the US Immigration Gold Card Works for Companies and Graduates
The US Immigration Gold Card gives employers a direct way to keep highly skilled students in the country. Trump said the website for the program is now active, and companies can purchase a Gold Card to secure long-term employment for top graduates from universities like Harvard, MIT and Wharton.
Business leaders, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, reportedly told Trump that current immigration barriers make it hard to hire the talent they need. Trump said the Gold Card addresses this problem by making the process secure and predictable.
Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick explained that individuals may buy the card for $1 million, while companies may purchase one for $2 million. The government will charge an additional vetting fee to ensure candidates meet strict eligibility standards. After five years, cardholders will gain a clear path to US citizenship.

Trump said the Gold Card will generate billions of dollars in revenue and strengthen America’s workforce. He claimed the program will bring in “the best people” and give companies a competitive advantage.
