A source close to the production revealed that both platforms were credited in the film’s opening slate, hinting at this unique partnership. While it remains unclear if the film will stream simultaneously on both services or in phases, the move has already created a buzz among movie lovers.
Recently, other films like Tehran, starring John Abraham, also experimented with similar models. Tehran debuted on Zee5 and later appeared on Netflix within two weeks. Likewise, Maddock Films’ earlier projects such as Mimi and Dasvi were simultaneously available on multiple platforms, including Netflix and Jio Cinema.
Why OTT platforms are sharing content rights
According to a July report by The Economic Times, OTT platforms are increasingly embracing shared content rights due to soaring acquisition costs. The report cited examples like Viduthalai 2, which streamed on both Zee5 and Amazon Prime Video, and the Telugu hit Mazaka, shared between Zee5 and Prime Video with a short release gap.
This multi-platform release strategy, once considered unconventional, is now gaining traction as it helps producers reach larger audiences while optimizing returns. For a film like Jolly LLB 3, which appeals to both urban and mass audiences, this approach ensures broader visibility across platforms.
