Hamas Europe Network Threat: Mossad Warns of ‘On Command’ Attacks

Hamas Europe network threat

Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency claims that Hamas has built a covert network across Europe, raising concerns about coordinated attacks on Israeli and Jewish communities. The agency says recent joint operations with European security forces exposed hidden weapons, active operatives and plots waiting for approval.

Mossad Reveals Growing Hamas Activity in Europe

According to Mossad, Hamas members quietly created small operational cells in several European countries. These cells stored weapons and planned attacks that could be activated “on command.” The agency states that coordinated efforts with security forces in Germany, Austria and other nations led to arrests and seizures of weapons.

As investigators continued their search, they uncovered a significant cache in Vienna last September. Austrian officers found handguns and explosive materials in a hidden location. Mossad later linked the stash to Mohammad Naim, the son of senior Hamas official Bassem Naim. This connection strengthened concerns about direct support from the group’s leadership.

Investigations Highlight Links to Qatar

Mossad also says a meeting in Qatar last year suggests deeper involvement from senior Hamas figures. The agency believes key leaders helped guide operations abroad. Although Hamas officials deny these claims, Mossad argues that these denials protect the group’s international standing.

Moreover, the agency warns that continued distancing by top leaders may show they are losing control over operatives in foreign countries.

Turkey-Based Operatives Under Scrutiny

European agencies also examined Hamas activities linked to Turkey. German officials arrested Burhan al-Khatib in November, saying he previously operated from Turkey before moving into Europe. This arrest pushed European investigators to expand their focus beyond direct terror plots.

As a result, Germany and other nations started reviewing charities and religious groups suspected of giving support—financial or ideological—to Hamas. These institutions may act as important links within the wider Europe-based structure.

Mossad Claims Hamas Accelerated Its Foreign Strategy

Mossad says Hamas intensified its overseas efforts after the 7 October attack on Israel. The group allegedly used methods similar to Iran-aligned networks, including covert cells, dispersed operatives and hidden weapon hubs.

Because of this shift, Mossad says it is working with partners worldwide to stop dozens of emerging attack plans. The agency stresses that the goal is to safeguard Israeli and Jewish communities in Europe and beyond.
